Choosing The
Right Air Purifier
The Air in your house can be 3 - 5X more
polluted than outside air!

Choosing the right air purifier is
easier than you might think, especially if it is for home or office use. Here are some
general guidelines to follow when choosing an air purifier.
1. Choose a purifier that uses a HEPA
filter, (not "HEPA-like"). HEPA air filters remove up to 99.97% of all
particulate down to 0.3 microns! The HEPA air filter is made up of very thin glass fibers
that trap the contaminants so that they do not flow back into circulation. All of the
purifiers that we off has HEPA filters pre-installed. Click

2. Make sure that you have the
appropriate amount of carbon in your air purifier to remove gases and odors. Carbon is
measured in pounds ranging from 5 pounds in a small personal unit, to 15 pounds to purify
the air in a regular-sized room, to 35 pounds for commercial or industrial use. There are
different types of carbon for different needs, and even different grades of carbon
quality.
3. The air purifier should be the
appropriate size for the room that it is placed in. Find out how many square feet your
room is and choose the right air purifier for a room of that size. For example, you should
use one size unit to filter 120 square feet and a larger unit if your room is 500 square
feet. Some units can attach to your furnace and filter the air in your entire house.
4. The clean air discharge should not be
on or near the floor where it will kick up dust.
5. An air purifier is most effective when
placed near the source of pollutants and blowing out into the occupied space. It should
run continuously. Choose a unit with a hard baked finish to avoid off gassing, and a
colour that will go with the décor of the room.
6. Ask how often you must change your
filters. It is better if you can change your pre filter, HEPA filter and carbon filter
separately. HEPA filters usually last 3 to 5 years, whereas carbon filters last 1 to 3
years. Pre-filters, on the other hand, can be vacuum cleaned. |
